  • Connor in dog training

    Methods

I have put together a combination of training methods to first build a bond with your dog and then a communication system. I like to think of it as a working partnership. I consider myself a balanced dog trainer.

There are three main methods I use with every dog for a balanced system. The first is “free shaping”. The second method is called “positive reinforcement luring”. The last is “proofing.” These methods set dogs up for success without causing any unnecessary stress.

  • There are three main methods I use with every dog for a balanced system:

    Free Shaping

    Positive reinforcement

    Proofing

  • Dogs will do everything they have learned at home in everyday life when:

    • A reward is coming
    • They are safe and the situations are predictable to them (this step can take time)
  • Positive reinforcement luring, free shaping and proofing are proven methods that will set your dog up for success.

Dogs are deliberate creatures and do everything for a reason. And when they are learning, everything needs to have either a reward or a correction when teaching them. This way they understand what they are doing is either right or wrong. I always teach a dog the right thing before showing them a correction for doing what I do not like/is not right.
